A duster should be cleaned when it no longer is picking up dust. If you notice that dust is being left behind, it's time to clean the duster. One that is used frequently, and looking dingy or dirty, should be cleaned to prevent spreading around dust and dirt.

For best results, wash microfiber dusters separately as they easily pick up lint from other materials, especially cotton terry cloth. Microfiber can go straight into the washing machine with warm or hot water (a temperature of around 130 degrees F opens up the fibers to release dirt) and a mild detergent.

Feather dusters should be washed gently in soapy water, and then run under running water until they rinse clean. After shaking off excess water, allow them to air dry. Dish soap is a great option for cleaning your feather duster.

To wash the duster head, simply rinse under warm water and leave to dry. Allow the duster to dry out naturally, do not apply heat to it as this may damage the static fibres.
